10th 2005]
With the city of Montreal experiencing the hottest summer in history, it’s hard to imagine how it could possibly get any hotter. But this past Sunday, on July 10th, the temperature scorched well above 36 degrees as the Hankook AutoFest exploded onto the beach/resort known as the Beach Club in Pointe Calumet, Quebec.
Being promoted as the summer event of bikinis and rides, AutoFest delivered as promised. Over 120 show vehicles lined the beach front of this unique venue along with a good selection of local vendors and sponsors. These included the likes of Clarion, Memphis and of course the presenting sponsor themselves, Torco Oil.

Several interesting features of the show included the Team Pneumatik lowrider/airdraulic demonstration, the Audio Drag SPL competition and let’s not forget the 5th and final round of the Hankook Model Search that took place on the main stage. If there was anything that really made this event interesting it was definitely the venue itself.

Other than just the car show aspect, spectators were treated with a wide array of other activities to partake in such as wake boarding, pedal boats, beach volleyball as well as the dual patio outdoor dance floors complete with its own sprinkler system to keep the crowd cool. Did I mention bikinis?
Over 6000 speedo clad enthusiasts swarmed the Beach Club and let's just say that my neck muscles are still sore from the whiplash. Hankook hottie Julie Michelle spent the day posing for cameras as did the lovely Ms. Torco , Jessica Honey. At the end oft the day, the Hankook Autofest proved that a great car show doesn't always have to follow the same formula. Beach, sun, rides and bikinis….hats off to whoever thought of this one! |
