The second edition of the BFGoodrich Sport Compact
Nights Canadian Tour went in like a lamb and out
like a fire-breathing dragon as New Brunswick's
Moncton Coliseum proved a fitting end to a successful
summer on the road. The lineup of spectators extended
deep into the parking lot as ticket-takers struggled
to keep up with those eager to make their way
onto the show floor.
Title sponsor BFGoodrich treated the city
of Moncton to a quintet of high-profile show cars
that included local legend Serge Leger's Xtreme
Motorsports Integra, Rob Sztuka's OneRide.Ca Supra
and went so far as to bring back Chico Zetino's
tri-turbo VW Golf pickup truck that took home
Best Of Show in Halifax. Not to be outdone, presenting
sponsor Castrol invited their Halifax Outperformer
Award winner to Moncton to showcase his Euro-spec
twin turbo GTI and a Subaru Sti all the way from
Montreal.
With a roster of cars this hot, one might think
that tabulating the results of the Meguiar's Show
'N Shine meant closing one's eyes and pointing
in the direction of the BFGoodrich booth. Instead,
these veterans of the North American show scene
were more than happy to step aside and let the
local tuners have their go at Best Of Show. With
Team Xtreme's showcase Integra out of the running,
competitors from Kosoku Performance and Downforce
stepped up with some serious contenders. Marcel
Richard brought home the trophy for Best CRX and
Stephen Dane's turbo Spec-V earned him the award
for Best Nissan.

Crews like Kosoku,
Downforce and East Coast Compacts applied
pressure to Team X but New Brunswick's oldest
club continued to lead the way with Eric
Bourgois keeping the trophy for Best Integra
in the family and Gilles Vautour won best
RSX by sporting possibly the only K24 motor
swap in the country. When the awards for
Best Of Show were distributed, Luc Boudreau's
3rd Place trophy was the icing on the cake
for Team X as Montreal's Daniel Tremblay
came in 2nd with Pierre Bruno Allard earning
the final Sport Compact Nights Best Of Show
trophy of 2004
After crossing the country and having experienced
The Scene from Vancouver to Halifax, SCN
Moncton provided a perfect ending to the
Sport Compact Nights Tour. New Brunswick
brought out the best in every aspect, from
the quality of rides that turned out for
the event to the positive feedback from
sponsor, spectator and competitor, SCN Moncton
was the perfect way to end the tour and
lead in to Canada's largest indoor 3-day
automotive lifestyle event: Sport Compact
